Bi-racial, Bi-sizal Sketch Comedy
In January 2006, accomplished writers and stand-up comics Paul Bae and Charles Demers joined up to write and perform scathing, engaging sketch comedy with a cerebral twist that has had audiences on both sides of the border in stitches, and has the Georgia Straight's comedy critic lauding their "literate style." Who else has jokes about existentialism and testicles, all wrapped into one sketch?

Since then, Paul and Charlie have put audiences in stitches on both sides of the border, on-stage and over the radio, as well as participating in several high-profile festivals and sold-out shows. They have received outstanding reviews from critics and were called “the future of comedy” by Robin Williams.

Paul Bae

Paul has appeared in many comedy competitions and festivals, including Montreal's Just For Laughs and Vancouver’s International Comedy Festival. He represented Vancouver is Yuk Yuk’s Search For Canada’s Funniest New Comic on the Comedy Network and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition.  He can be seen on CBC specials ‘Sleeping with The Elephant’ and ‘Western Alienation’, as well as CTV’s Comedy Now! For his own one hour comedy special.

He was a regular voice on the hit CBC Radio series and The Debaters and in 2009, Paul and cohort Charlie formed half the television team for CityNews List, airing weeknights on CityTV.

Charles Demers
Charles Demers spent his youth as a Trotskyite, giving him a hilarious and esoteric edge to his stand up comedy. He has an engaging and intelligent view of the world and the comedy that is in it.

He has performed at the Vancouver International Comedy Festival and Charlie’s comedy has been featured nationally on CBC Radio. He is a regular host of the Vancouver Fringe Festival gala and Neworldtheatre’s popular ‘Bite of the Underground’ events. In 2009, Paul and cohort Charlie formed half the television team for CityNews List, airing weeknights on CityTV.

Charlie is one of the founding editors of Seven Oaks magazine, his humour essays, book and film reviews, editorials and short stories have appeared in such print and online publications as Vancouver Magazine, The Georgia Straight, Only Magazine, Rabble.ca, The Westender, The Tyee, This Magazine, Monthly Review's MRZine.org, and others. Charlie is currently working on a novel.
