Dal Richards knows the music business by heart. Renowned locally, nationally, and internationally, Dal is a well-rounded veteran of music. After seventy years of legendary music making Dal has seen a thing or two.
His accolades are seemingly endless; in 2005, he was awarded the Freedom of the City by Vancouver City Council, named the honorary Doorman of the Doorman’s Association, and inducted into the BC Lions Wall of Fame. These awards vary in nature, from producing, performing, and providing a better future for the next generation of community heroes.
Dal gives back to the community both physically, and psychologically. As a strong believer in showing his love for the community, he’s performed at the largest annual fair in Western Canada, the PNE, 66 times and counting. He was recognized for his work by the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association with his own street art, called “The Swing of Things” located on West Georgia Street right outside the Fairmount Hotel Vancouver.
With his dynamic persona, Dal enlightens those around him through his story telling. He’s seen how the music industry and Vancouver itself has changed. He enjoys sharing his endeavours and adventures that he has been privy to throughout his incredible career.
Dal and bestselling author Jim Taylor have come together to recount his life story in a new book. Dal shares his memories of the stars and wannabes, the hustlers and bootleggers and hat-check chicks. “One More Time” was released in October 2009, along with his latest CD of the same name.
Let Dal inspire you with his history of longevity...
He’ll leave you swinging, in the right direction.
